Solution

How are new tenant members added in Auth0?

Administrators can assign a user to more than one role, which combines the permissions.

NOTE: A recommended best practice is to add more than one tenant Admin. If one of the admins loses access to the tenant, another admin retains access.

NOTE: Starting February 14th, 2024, tenant admins with accounts created using a username and password must verify their email address before inviting other members.

Navigate to the tenant settings in the dashboard, enter the new member's details, and send an invitation.

  1. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Tenant Members.
  2. Select Add Member.
  3. On the Add New Tenant Member screen, enter the user's email address and assign the roles.
  4. Select Invite.

Auth0 sends an email to the user with a link to accept the invitation. Before the user accepts the invitation, they appear in the Invitations list as pending. Selecting the ... button displays the Remove invitation and Copy invitation link options.

When the invited user clicks the link to accept the invitation, Auth0 prompts them to log in with the invited email address. They can choose to authenticate using a social provider or an email address and password. If they choose the email and password option but do not yet have an Auth0 account, they can switch to the Sign Up option directly on the invitation page to create an account and accept the invite in one step.
