Inaccurate Usage Notification for Node 12 / 16 Extensibility Runtimes

The Node 12 and 16 extensibility runtimes reached their end-of-life in the context of the Auth0 service on August 15, 2025. As part of the end-of-life process, in early October 2025, Auth0 sent an email notification intended for tenants still actively using these specific runtime versions. This email notification was titled “End of Life for Node.js 12 and 16 Extensibility Runtimes - October Update”.

Due to a data reporting issue, some tenants were included in the target list for the email notification, despite no longer using those runtimes at the time of receiving the notification.

The reporting data used to determine the target list of tenants incorrectly considered historical data related to individual actions. More specifically, the report considered tenants that had historically used one or more action versions targeting a discontinued runtime, even if the latest version of such actions had already received an update to target a supported runtime.

Auth0 has addressed the reporting issue, and any further email notifications that may be required will no longer incorrectly include tenants due to the situation with past versions of an action.

Tenants listed as impacted in the October notification may disregard the notice if they use a non-discontinued runtime for all actions and in their advanced settings for other extensibility integrations.
