Tenant Member Appears Disabled

Overview

This article explains a situation in which one or more tenant members appear disabled in the dashboard, with no apparent option to enable them.

Tenant Members

Applies To

  • Tenant members
  • Dashboard Admins
  • Social login
  • Email and password login

Cause

The Disabled or Enabled status refers to the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) configuration rather than the member's account status. Confusion occurs when a tenant has many members and scrolling down hides the MFA column header, leading to the status being misinterpreted.

Solution

When users sign up/sign in with an email and password identity, they must enroll in MFA, and the option is enabled in the tenant members list.

When users sign up/sign in with a social login, such as Google or GitHub, social login does not enforce MFA enrollment, and the option is Disabled in the tenant members list. The tenant member must enroll from the dashboard:

  1. Go to the Dashboard.
  2. Choose the drop-down menu in the top right corner > Your Profile.
  3. Select Multifactor Authentication.

For more information, go to the Add, Change, or Remove MFA documentation.
