Cause
LinkedIn has moved to using the OIDC protocol, the latest strategy version (v3 at time of writing) of the LinkedIn Social connection Auth0 provides uses this new protocol.
Solution
When using Strategy v3 of the LinkedIn Social connection, the respective LinkedIn app must have the OIDC "Sign In with LinkedIn using OpenID Connect" product enabled. To enable this product for a LinkedIn application, navigate to LinkedIn Developers page > My apps > Select the application that connects with Auth0 > Products
