Auth0 Dashboard Login Loop Occurs When Inviting Users to a Dashboard Single Sign-On Connection

Overview

A login loop occurs in the Auth0 Dashboard when inviting users to a new Dashboard Single Sign-On (SSO) connection because the new identity remains completely separate from the previous identity. Resolve this issue by removing the existing tenant member and sending a new invitation through Auth0 Teams. The issue occurs when users enter a continuous login loop after receiving an invitation to a new Dashboard SSO connection and attempting to access the Auth0 Dashboard.

Applies To

  • Auth0
  • Auth0 Dashboard
  • Single Sign-On (SSO)
  • Auth0 Teams

Cause

When creating a new Dashboard SSO connection and inviting users to the tenant with the new identity, the new identity remains completely separate from the previous identity. Consequently, Auth0 does not recognize the user as a team member.

Solution

How is the Auth0 Dashboard login loop resolved?

Remove the existing tenant member from the Auth0 Dashboard and send a new invitation through Auth0 Teams to ensure the new identity links correctly.

  1. Log in to the Auth0 Dashboard, navigate to Settings, choose Tenant Members, and remove the affected tenant member from the tenant.
  2. Log in to Auth0 Teams, navigate to Members, and select Invite A Member.
  3. Enter the tenant member's email address, choose the Contributor team access level, select the tenant and the role in the tenant, then select Send Invite.
  4. The team member selects the URL in the team invitation email and accepts the invitation to log in to the tenant.

Perform these steps for the new identity, such as a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) or OpenID Connect (OIDC) identity.
