Auth0 Displays Raw Tenant ID in Verification Email From Field
Last Updated:
Overview
Auth0 displays the raw tenant ID in the "From" field of the verification email template. This occurs because the Auth0 Admin Console lacks a configured friendly name. Configure a custom email provider and manually update the "From" field in the email templates, or set a friendly name for the tenant to resolve the issue.
Applies To
- Auth0
- Email Templates
- Custom Email Provider
- Verification Email
Cause
The error occurs because the friendly name has not been configured inside the email template or the tenant settings, causing Auth0 to default to the raw tenant ID in the email sender address.
Solution
How is the raw tenant ID removed from the verification email?
To resolve the raw tenant ID issue, configure a custom email provider and update the sender information, or configure a friendly name for the tenant in the Auth0 Dashboard by following these steps:
Option 1: Configure the Friendly Name Under the Tenant Settings
- In the Auth0 Dashboard, go to Settings and select General.
- Enter the desired friendly name in the Friendly Name field.
- Save the changes.
Option 2: Modify the Sender Information Within the Email Template
- Configure a supported custom email provider within the Auth0 Dashboard.
- In the Auth0 Dashboard, choose Branding and select Email Templates.
- Select the Verification Email template.
- Locate the From field.
- Enter the desired sender information using the standard email format (for example,
Company App <welcome@companyapp.com>). - Select Save.
NOTE: The customization in the email template only takes effect if administrators configure the custom email provider in the tenant.
