Auth0 Sends Verification Emails When the Email Provider and Templates Are Disabled
Last Updated:
Overview
Auth0 sends verification emails even when the email provider, the email verification template, and custom database signups are disabled. This occurs because the email verification setting remains enabled on the Custom Database Connection. Resolve this issue by disabling the verification setting within the database attributes.
Applies To
- Auth0
- Custom Database Connections
- Email Verification
- Email Templates
Cause
The Verify email on sign up setting is enabled on the Custom Database Connection. This configuration prompts Auth0 to send verification emails regardless of the status of the email provider, the email verification template, or the database signup settings.
Solution
How is the email verification setting disabled?
Navigate to the database attributes and disable the email verification setting to stop Auth0 from sending verification emails.
- Navigate to the Database.
- Select Attributes.
- Choose Configure next to Email.
- Disable the Verify email on sign up setting.
