Auth0 Administrator Cannot Manage Tenant Members After Teams Update
Last Updated:
Overview
An Auth0 administrator cannot manage tenant members after a tenant updates to the Teams feature with centralized management enabled. The Tenant Members page displays the following warning directing the administrator to manage members from the Team:
Heads up! Tenant Members can only be added through Teams.
However, the administrator is also unable to manage tenant members from the Teams dashboard.
Applies To
- Auth0
- Auth0 Dashboard
- Teams with centralized management
Cause
The tenant uses the Teams feature configured for centralized management, requiring administrators to manage tenant members from the Teams dashboard. The administrator lacks the required Team Owner or Tenant Manager role to perform this action.
Solution
How is the tenant member management issue resolved?
Verify the Team configuration, determine the current role, and request the Team Owner or Tenant Manager role to manage tenant members.
- Confirm whether the tenant is part of a Team (it will appear in the dropdown at the upper left of the Auth0 dashboard) and whether the Team has enabled Centralized management (Team > Settings).
- In the Team, determine the user's role. Review the available roles in the Team membership documentation.
- If the user is not a Team Owner or Tenant Manager, they cannot manage tenant members. In that case, the user needs to request that the Team Owner update their role.
- To manage tenant members from Teams, follow the instructions in the Tenant Member Management guide.
