Auth0 Tenant Deletion Due to Inactivity

Overview

Auth0 deletes free plan tenants that remain inactive for a continuous period of 150 days. To prevent deletion, administrators must log in to the Auth0 dashboard or maintain usage activity through logins or Application Programming Interface (API) calls. Once Auth0 deletes a tenant through this process, administrators cannot recover the tenant.

Applies To

  • Auth0
  • Free Plan Tenants
  • Inactive Tenants

Cause

The identified tenant lacks activity for a period exceeding three months. Inactivity includes a lack of admin logins to the Auth0 dashboard, user logins, or API calls on the tenant. Auth0 sends alerts regarding inactivity for tenants on a free plan. Auth0 schedules inactive tenants for deletion after a continuous period of 150 days.

Solution

How do administrators prevent tenant deletion?

Maintain an active Auth0 tenant by performing an administrative login or generating usage activity through the following methods.

  • Perform an admin login to the Auth0 dashboard.
  • Maintain usage activity through logins or API calls on the tenant.

How do administrators create a new tenant?

Create a new tenant by signing up for a new account or using a different authentication method.

  • Create a new tenant at auth0.com/signup. NOTE: Auth0 limits each account to one free tenant at a time. Auth0 may take several days to fully delete the previous tenant before an administrator can create a new one.
  • Use a different account by signing in with a new email address, or use an existing email with a different authentication method (such as Google or GitHub) to create a new tenant immediately.

NOTE: Administrators cannot reuse the previous tenant name.
