What are the customization methods for the New Universal Login?

Auth0 provides several methods to customize the New Universal Login experience. Review the following methods to determine the best approach for specific customization needs.

  • Themes: Use Themes to update branding elements such as logos, color schemes, fonts, and button styles. This method requires no code and supports most branding use cases. Administrators manage themes directly in the Auth0 Dashboard. Review the Customize Universal Login Themes documentation for more information.
  • Text Elements: Customize visible user interface text, messages, and errors with support for multiple languages. This method supports localization and does not change the layout. Administrators manage text elements via the Auth0 Dashboard or API. Review the Customize Universal Login Text Elements documentation for more information.
  • Partials: Customize signup and login prompts using custom content or data capture. Custom content includes static text, links, or images placed directly on the prompts. Data capture uses form elements dynamically added to the prompts to collect and validate user consent or user-produced data. Review the Customize Signup and Login Prompts documentation for more information.
  • Page Templates: Edit page-level templates for key screens, including login, signup, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and error pages. The login page template defines the structure, content, and layout logic for each screen. Review the Customize Universal Login Page Templates documentation for more information.

Advanced Customization for New Universal Login enables advanced logic and layout control.

Advanced Customization for New Universal Login (ACUL) unlocks the full power of Universal Login Page Templates. ACUL is available only with the New Universal Login. Administrators access ACUL via template editing. Use ACUL to perform the following advanced customizations.

  • Modify the HTML structure of individual screens.
  • Add conditional rendering and dynamic content.
  • Customize per-language or per-connection layouts.
  • Inject trusted JavaScript logic.

Review the Advanced Customizations for Universal Login documentation for more information.

How is the Classic Universal Login customized?

The Classic Universal Login experience allows full control over HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) on the login page. Use full-page templates to customize the following elements.

  • Layout, styling, and login widget usage.
  • Analytics and tracking injection.
  • Custom JavaScript logic and validation.
