This article explains whether it is possible to migrate a custom domain (for example, for rebranding) without downtime, avoiding the downtime that would result from deleting the current domain and configuring a new one.

Previously, downtime was unavoidable during migrations to a new custom domain because a tenant could have only a single custom domain. The old, existing custom domain had to be deleted before configuring the new one.

With the new Multiple Custom Domains (MCD) feature, this migration without downtime is much easier to achieve.

Getting a secondary custom domain via the MCD feature will greatly improve the migration/rebranding process without downtime.

Migrating from the same self-managed custom domain to the same Auth0-managed custom domain is not possible. The only way is to set up a secondary domain.
